In these unquestionably difficult times, the comfort and joy we
find in great music has become a very special gift. Music serves
as an extraordinary testimony to the magnificence of the human
spirit, and it is that indomitable spirit that we continue to celebrate
and to share with others.
The St. Cecilia Chorus has a longstanding tradition of excellence,
presenting the world's greatest choral music in performances worthy
of the world's greatest concert halls. We are proud of our high
standards and quality, but excellence has a price. Making great
music requires a serious investment of time, energy, artistry … and
money. We have no paid administration; all the work is done
by our membership and volunteer supporters. Of course, we do what
we can to maximize our income from dues, engagement fees, ticket
sales, etc., and to minimize our expenses through judicious planning
and careful management. Nevertheless, our ambitious and challenging
repertoire means that these various sources of income still cover
only a fraction of our costs.
To make great music, we need great friends. So to continue our
tradition of excellence, we need your support. Your generosity
is the best way to let us know how much you like what we do, and
to ensure that you will be hearing us perform for years to come.
Fund Descriptions:
Annual Fund - contributions are used to cover operating expenses associated with producing concerts
in Carnegie Hall and other venues. Your gifts enable us to meet the enormous
costs of producing memorable musical experiences for you, our audience.
Endowment Funds - contributions provide a long-term financial base for the Chorus. Income from the
Endowment Funds are used to supplement the Annual Fund in covering concert production costs.
Contributions may be directed to either or both the Second Century Fund and the
David and Mildred Randolph Conductor's Chair. Your gifts to the Endowment Fund will
secure St. Cecilia's future for years to come.
Educational Outreach - Since its 2000-01 season, The St. Cecilia Chorus has provided an
educational outreach program that enables young people throughout New York City to
attend our Carnegie Hall performances. Our efforts target youths and students who might
otherwise never be exposed to classical choral music, and who probably would never
get to experience the magic of Carnegie Hall.
